We currently send automated emails using VBA and CDO to and account at Outlook.com

Due to changes at MS we belive we have to shift to OAuth.

I think you SMTP service component will manage this, however I don't think it will work running as an automated process
because it appears that the authorisation credentials are manually added.

Am I correct

Hi you can use oauth + admin grant the consent in background task, it doesn't require the user interactive login:
